The Lent-Easter Season

St. John's is a celebrating community that embraces a wide variety of musical expressions to Meet Jesus, Experience the support of the Church and Live as Disciples of praise and worship. The Lenten season is particularly season of healing and “to fix our eyes on Jesus... who for the joy set before him endured the cross.” (Hebrews 12:2). Let’s meet Jesus at the cross. Let’s experience the support of a church by doing this with Christians near and far. Let’s live as disciples who quietly deny ourselves and take up the cross of healing and soul refreshing relief.

St. John’s Sings … 
That which informs and shapes our song is the grace of God in Jesus Christ.

• That song of love – that festal shout – is both the subject and the object of our song.

• By it we are nurtured in our faith in the triune God, shaped for a life of prayer, and equipped for outreach and service in Jesus’ name.

• With that song we robustly proclaim to ourselves and to our community and His eternal victory over sin, death, and the satanic forces of the world.

• As we sing, we take our place with Christians from all time and in all places, bringing to the worldwide work of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving, the voice of the redeemed gathered in this corner of God’s world.

• We sing – robustly and often – and we utilize the many resources at our disposal to develop the song within us and to release it to the world.

Opportunities to serve in Music Ministry

At St. John's we want our members and our guests to come into contact with great music, and we work hard to heighten the caliber and scope of our musical offerings. But even more importantly, we are shaped for response to God and service in His world by the cross of Jesus Christ. For us, music and the arts are, above all, ways to announce the good news that God has loved the world in Jesus from eternity. We invite you to participate in our music ministry teams.

• Senior Choir – rehearses Wednesdays, 7:30 – 9:00 pm

• Praise Singers – rehearses Tuesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 pm

• Sunday School Children rehearse during Sunday School sing several times a year.

• Festival Handbells – gather and rehearse several weeks prior to Christmas and Easter

• Instrumental Groups – gather for church festivals and other times as needed.
